Newnham Parish

Welcome

Newnham is a village and civil parish in Kent, in the administrative borough of Swale near the medieval market town of Faversham.

Enjoy a glorious walk through the Syndale Valley, running through the mid Kent Downs – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – the chalk valley remains one of the few timeless landscapes in this busy corner of Kent. Not without its own share of historic highlights and notoriety, the ancient settlement of Newnham, nestled in the Syndale Valley since at least the 12th century. Here the Romans grew grapes and James Pimm was born – creator of one of Britain’s best-loved summer drinks, the eponymous Pimms.

A great area for all forms of active travel, including cycling too, check out routes online.

Stop for lunch, or dinner, at The George Inn, originally a farm building it became a brewhouse and coaching inn, in 1718. Full of character from old oak beams, hops and inglenook fireplaces, with a large garden and car parking facilities.

Places to stay nearby include Sandhurst Farm Forge Self Catering Accommodation, The Old Vicarage, Doddington and Palace Farm Hostel and Campsite
